A must Blogger!

In this information age, blogging became one powerful tool to a netizens. Aside from all authenticated news websites, we often gathered the latest news from a blogger that writes everything under the sun. We could easily express our expressions about these things nowadays.
You, even you who just surfing in the world wide web, you who just go to this page without thinking it, you who had no formal education in communication, can a blogger.
I remember when I and my classmates came to Paragon building at Mandaluyong City last March 2, 2012, to greet and meet the man behind WhenInManila.com, a successful blog page of Vince Golangco.
(Thanks to Stephanie Bas for her solemn effort to make this interview possible!)
Vince graduated in San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and currently holding a morning show as radio DJ at Mellow 94.7. He also the one who organized the Blogapalooza which is a business to blogger networking event.
He started his blogging career with his desire to tell story of the things he experienced. As he came home here in the Philippines, he wanted to show his friends in San Diego what Philippines looks like and what should be done in here. He came up with many blogs; however, he took WhenInManila as his priority. And, as we all know, WhenInManila became a huge hit to both netizens and businessmen.
How thing BLOG thing works.
As a successful blogger, he came up with some cool privileges; He gladly told us some of those events he recently experienced because of this career. Just a couple of days before our set interview, he was invited in Malacanang Palace for an exclusive screening of “Inside Malacanang”, a National Geographic documentaty. Because of this, he managed to shake the hand of the President and took some photos with him!
He also added his holiday experienced, he was assigned to make a article about how it is to have a party with the sexy and beautiful Solenn Heusaff. Of course, with pay! “Magpa-party ka na nga with Solenn, babayaran ka pa.”
He also shared with us how blogging can be a source of income.
You will be paid one peso per follower when you just tweet whatever the advertisers made you endorse on twitter. (It depends on the terms you and the advertisers talked about.)
For his income, 10,000-25,000 for A BLOG post alone since many people view his blog. Vince charges $50 a week for a 125x125 ad space spot.
Vince also shared a lot of things to earn money such as Google Adsence, InfoLinks, Nuffnang, etc. Nuffnang, as his favorite, has the pay-per-view function whenever someone goes to his blog site, compared to Google Ads which has a pay-per-click function by clicking ads. You just have to be creative.
A search engine optimization (SEO) can be a help to improve the visibility of your site. When you had good SEO, he added, you can be became at the first page of the Google Search among other bloggers that has the same blog content, so you might have get more hits of viewers.
Links and keywords are very important when a blog have a lot of links; Google will see it as important page and will rank it higher. You should repeat your keyword 3 percent of the time and it also had to be your title too.
The content. It is also the key in your blogging career. You should have a lot of content to read because no one will ever read your blog when you only have few articles. “You have to write every day. It’s really a commitment.”
Of course, Vince also advised us that when it comes to reviewing something that advertiser promotes to us and don’t feel good about it, we should better not to review it anymore or better, try it once again and review it. We should focus our writings on positive things.
Vince believed that it is not just about the money that he was fulfilled when doing the blog. It was the satisfaction of meeting people and sharing your stories to them is the best!
Also Vince encouraged the bloggers to write every day. It don’t necessary be along article, you just have to write whatever you have compassion.
For the next Blogapalooza!
Vince and his friends decided to create an event called Blogapalooza. Blogapalooza is designed for good bloggers and businesses meet in one place since he know wide circle of good bloggers. The benefits of joining to this event are for the businessmen to find good bloggers to promote their products and for the bloggers to discover and try cool things.
“Blogapalooza was about to inviting good bloggers who can make a business out.”
Regarding to the next event, Vince had a busy schedule and still don’t know when to organize it, however, he encourage us to check to the Blogapalooza page for updates!

Meeting with the Editor!

Editor-in-chief might be the highest position on publication staffs and it is not so easy job. You may need high time management skills, strong decision-making and lot of passion for the job.

Last November 18, 2012, half-confident and half-nervous I came in Discover Philippines magazine office at West Ave. Quezon City with my camera on the compliance to the set date of my meeting with the editor, Mr. Oliver Quingco II. With the welcoming office ambiance, he friendly accommodated me to sit and start the interview I requested on him in email. Well, I’m still feel so intimidated on this opportunity to have a one-on-one interview with the magazine’s editor-in-chief. However, I should not let this chance passed.

Mr. Quingco graduated of Art Studies in University of the Philippines in 1994 and became lifestyle journalist in Manila Times before he held the job in Discover Philippines, a travel magazine. Currently, he was the editor-in-chief and I am so fortunate to listen how magazine thing works.

Things we need to talk about.
You should work hard to maintain your responsibilities well done. He described the duty as a father who oversee all things in its household and provide source for the magazine to work.

“Mahirap s’ya in the sense na para kang tatay sa bahay, may asawa, may mga anak, may helper sa bahay, tapos ima-manage mo ung schedule ng lahat, tapos ‘ung budget ng lahat. [Kung] may coverage, mag-a-allot ka ng budget, at kung kulang ang budget nyo, maghahanap ka ng mga sponsors at ng advertisers.. so para nagma-mange ka ng isang bahay.”

He added that editor-in-chief should be strict on every deadline because it will affect the relationship of your magazine and the advertisers. It is the main challeges in print industry, most especially to the newly debuted magazines. “Mahirap kumuha ng advertisers kung hindi pa kilala ang magazine mo,” he stressed, “so kailangan kung sinabi mong lalabas ito [magazine] sa ganitong petsa, kung ano ‘ung prinamis mo sa advertisers mo, gagawin mo (s’ya).. Para hindi sila mawala sa’yo.”

However, there’s a lot of advantages to work for a magazine, most especially in travel magazine. “Masarap sa travel magazine kasi… nakakalakwatsa ka, part kasi ng job mo iyon, tapos ang gumagastos ng lakwatsa mo ay ang company…so marami kang nakikilalang tao tapos idi-discover mo kung anong food ang meron sa lugar na ‘to…marami kang mae-experience.”

Working on the field you’ve always wanted might brought you self-satisfaction. “Personal satisfaction s’ya kasi nakikita mo ‘ung efforts mo, makikita mo sya in print kasi… accredit sa’yo e, whether writer ka, photographer ka, or artist ka.”

Obedience and believing in work ethics are the main frame in doing the job. And if you worked hard for it, you may also achieve his success.

God's Workmanship!

mood: pleased

In the world, we conforming ourselves in evil desires because of our ignorance in Christ.
In Spiritual life, we decided to follow Him so we should set ourselves to be Holy, for we our called to be Holy.
(from 1Peter1:14-15) (ff: 1Thess2:11; 1Timothy4;8; Hebrews 5:13-14)

We are now free in the slavery of sin and because God have His Grace poured on us, we can hold to His eternal promise.
We SHOULD keep in mind that we are no longer live to sin, keeping its evil desires and set our body as instrument of wickedness, but rather offer ourselves to God. We are now live in Him who brought us from death to life through Jesus Christ. We should set ourselves as instrument of righteousness. (Romans6:11-13)

Because of our participation in the resurrection of Christ, through Baptism, we should consider our old self being died on the cross and we are no longer slave of sin. (Romans6:5-6)

We are God's Workmanship!
God still working in us,
God prepared things for us, its according to His plan,
until we reach the day of the Lord's coming.
(Eph2:10)

On the Go!

mood: determined determined

As we received Christ, we should continue to live in Him.

Through whom we've been forgiven by His blood, chosen us for the plan of God's Will and made known to us the mystery of His perfect Will.

Stand firm to our foundation which is in Christ, strengthen our faith by knowing Him more and acknowledge thankfulness in Him who brought us Hope for eternity.

We gained peace in God and experienced endlessly Grace from Him.

(Colosians2:6-7; Romans5:1-5; Ephesians1)

-Quiet time (Walking in Christ)

Stepping Forward.

mood: determined determined

There's no such INSTANT maturity in Christians.
It is not about in just one click we became a good and awesome servant for the Lord. It is a decision to change our nature into Christ-like.

Becoming a Christian is a life long process of knowing and loving God more.

1st step toward maturity is to put your faith in Christ Jesus!
-through whom we experienced forgiveness of our sins and we understand how great God's love and grace was.
(Romans5:1; John15:4; John11:25; John8:12)

God's desire for us is to unite in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, and become mature, attaining the whole measure of.Christ. We should speak the truth in Love and grow up in Christ! (Ephesians4:11-16)
"My position is in Christ.
My condition is becoming like Christ .
My expectation is to be like Christ."
Pursue to be righteous before God, It is a EVERYDAY decision to be make.
We should not focus on other things..
but rather set our minds to become like Christ, so the in the future, we will be appear in Him.

Not yet...

I just try to find a place to have a deep and serious conversation with God.

Yes,I found a nice place that can provide enough light for me to read my Bible and wrote whatever thought during this silent retreat.

I tried to focus myself but I'd easily got mad for those who made noise when they walked beside me. I was distracted. I'd prayed and prayed to God to make me concentrate for our conversation, but it didn't worked. I tried to find a suitable place again and again then I finally settle myself on the stairs that I can easily see th stars. I try to control myself, try to focus on the silence, enjoying the view above and let God talk to me.

I just wondered why I can't hear anything inside of my heart. Just nothing except on those noisy people on my far left side. I read my Bible again once more, any verses ( I believe that it would reflect my situation ) but I couldn't understand it although I knew what the story was all about.

Confuse, so I looked again at the stars. I hear something that disciples me about my attitude towards someone that made noise. Suddenly, I thought and realized that I was already disturbed by my surroundings and let it destroy my focus.

God's word is everywhere, but I let those nonsense things to be my priority to look at. I realized that lately I'm already disturbed by the trends of the world that hinders me to grow more in a deeper relationship with God. Although I must be transformed and renewed my mind, I can't help myself to fall and do those whatever norms created by this world. God let it happen for me to realized the situation that I'm facing nowadays. I'm not yet turned and fall away.

Not Yet...Though I have fallen I will rise and shall come back to my light. I will...

I can't help myself to avoid boredom and have a little patient to control myself, especially it get me sleepy. :)

These are the following:
-Studying topics that can't catch my interest. (for example: finance and economics)
-Traveling That I can't view the sceneries outside. I always want to sit on the window side of the vehicles
-I love to research but not in doing essay especially in English. I don't have any choice because I'm currently studying journalism.
-I get bored if I'm in the place where I think I'm not belong and out-of-place. UUWI NA AKO!
-I get bored if I do things that I know I don't have a heart to do it.
-It gets me bored if I'm on a lousy discussion in an open forum or inside the class room.
-Before I hate reading English books/novels/etc., especially when it is so long to read. But when I started reading Harry Potter, I somewhat love it. For now, I can stand to read novels (Harry Potter!!) and some English articles.
